(#7) "THE COVENANT CONFIRMED WITH BLOOD"
I. The Confirmation
A. It is difficult to determine the exact order and sequence of
activities here. Hebrews 9 helps.
1. First, God had Moses write all
the words of the covenant in the "book of the covenant."
2. Second, God instructed Moses to
build an altar and erect 12 great stone pillars.
3. Third, they sprinkled the blood
of the sacrifice
B. The significance. What comes out of these activities of
confirmation is:
1. That the covenant is God's
covenant. That's shown in two ways.
a.
b.
2. That this relationship is
possible only through the blood of another.
II. The Response
A. Israel responds to Jehovah's revelation: All that the Lord
hath said, we will do, and be obedient
1. Moses read it all. They
understood what was required.
2. They responded: We will do it.
B. The church of the new covenant responds in a similar manner
1.
2.
IlI The Blessing (see verses 9-11)
A. Negatively:
1.
2.
B. Positively:
